The right moisture meter can mean the difference
between a job well done and a job to be redone.

At moisturemeter.com, we offer you the top brands in moisture meters for side-by-side comparison to be sure you find the right tool to suit your budget and your industry. Whether you are in the market for a wood moisture meter, a garden moisture meter or a building inspection moisture meter that can handle a variety of materials, we want to be sure you know your options in order to make the right selection.

We know moisture meters.

Wood Moisture Meters

Wood moisture meters cover a range of needs from determining firewood moisture content to flooring and cabinet making to lumber production moisture measuring. For some applications, like volume lumber monitoring, certain styles and technologies are more suited to the demands of the products. For other uses, such as a woodworking moisture meter, surface damage caused by the meter's design may be unsuitable. We not only sort each wood moisture meter by type (standard wood , non-destructive or pin-style meters) but also by brand to help focus your search as quickly as possible.

Concrete Moisture Meters

Concrete moisture meters can be used for comparative measurements of concrete moisture conditions or for getting documentable readings of the relative humidity in a concrete slab. Knowing the difference means choosing the right moisture meter for the job at hand. Whether you are tracking a drying slab, or assessing an existing slab for moisture problems, a variety of options are available for measuring concrete moisture.

Humidity Meters

Humidity Meters measure the relative humidity, or moisture content expressed as a percentage, of wood or concrete at either surface or internal depths. Relative Humidity (RH) is also the format used by a variety of ASTM standards for concrete and wood building applications. Humidity can also be monitored as the ambient room condition for lutiers, lumber mills and woodworking specialists who need specific conditions for their wood storage and products.
Wagner Rapid RH - Concrete Moisture RH Test
  • Touch-n-Sense technology
  • Smart Sensors
  • Easiest test to comply with ASTM F2170
Extech MO100 Moisture Meter
  • Dual LCD displays for wood moisture and air temperature
  • Moisture content displayed on a relative scale
  • Calibration adjustment for better accuracy

Non-Destructive Meters

Non-destructive moisture meters measure the moisture content in wood and a variety of surfaces without leaving marks or holes on the material's surface.
Wagner MMC220 Moisture Meter
  • IntelliSense® Technology
  • Domestic & Exotic Woods
  • Press and Hold Feature
Also referred to as a pinless moisture meter, non-destructive meters use an electromagnetic wave or high frequency signal to determine the moisture content of wood and other building materials. This technology makes it possible to "scan" a length of lumber or material surface for an overall indication of moisture content along the entire area.
Like all meters, non-destructive meters can be sensitive to additional materials below the material's surface that falls within the signal's range such as structural metals or framing materials. Most, however, measure at approximately a 5/8" - 3/4" depth which helps prevent interference.
  • Dual display LCD and LED
  • Hold Reading Feature
  • Non-destructive - simply touch the surface to test
Generally designed for domestic and/or exotic wood, non-destructive meters also measure moisture content in a range of building materials including concrete, stucco, flooring, plaster, drywall, roofing, fiberglass and more, making them ideal as a building inspection moisture meter
Non-destructive meters are available with digital readouts, for higher accuracy in readings, or with analog indicators, for relative readings

Infrared Moisture Meters

Infrared technology provides an option for testing for the presence of moisture without damaging surface materials. Moisture meters using infrared technology (also called near infrared moisture meters or NIR moisture meters) measure moisture content by identifying specified light wave lengths associated with water, or areas of thermal variations that may indicate a moisture problem.
Wagner MMC220 Moisture Meter
  • Built-in InfraRed Thermometer
  • Works on multiple wood and other building materials
  • Programmable high/low moisture and humidity alarms
